BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Earu Banoth, Senior Member of IEEE and OPTICA, received his PhD in Instrumentation and Applied Physics from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India, in 2017. He received his Master's and Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Osmania University (2011) and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU in 2008). Dr. Banoth is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering, at NIT Rourkela, India. Before this position, Dr. Earu was a Postdoctoral associate and Visiting Scientist at the University of Rochester Medical Centre, New York, USA. He also worked as a Scientist in corporate research and innovation at TATA Consultancy Services Ltd., India. Dr. Earu is passionate about building the systems for Biomedical Applications that would work at Point-of-Care. His Doctoral work focused on the development of cytology-based optofluidic biomedical instruments to use at the point-of-care. His research cuts across various optofluidic detection techniques, Microfluidic device fabrication, microfluidics microscopy, digital holographic microscopy, and interferometry for biomedical applications and non-destructive testing. Dr. Banoth is a recipient of a prestigious Indo-USA fellowship, i.e., Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellow. He also participates actively in various international societies, such as Optica formally called Optical Society of America (OSA), IEEE, SABOI, etc. Dr. Banoth also initiated the NITR-OSA Student Chapter at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela.
